Stanford vs UCLA

This has been the most exciting game I have seen. Well, I guess in the context of the college basketball games I have been shooting. The game demanded mental and physical strength from players, coaches, officials and spectators alike. No one could afford even a minor distraction.

Emotions ran high from the start of the game, with UCLA's Head Coach continuously walking the side line while yelling orders to players and officials in the same tone of voice. Every one, on or off the court reacted to the this display in one way or another.

The play was physical, there were more players on the ground during the first half of the game that I can remember during the whole season. UCLA was putting the pressure on at every opportunity, and they were able to engage Stanford players in body and mind in a battle that went all the way to the end. Both teams were trying to pace the game and dominate the court and neither one gave up until the last 30 seconds of the game.

After a small score advantage of Stanford at the end of the first half they came back to continue the attack and finished the game with about a 20 point lead. But not without additional drama when Stanford's center was ejected from the game after accidentally driving her elbow to the face of a UCLA player. Coaches, spectators and players were all on edge.

I selected 40 images for the on-line magazine and 20 for my personal collection.

Technical notes:
I filled up the 4GB memory card on the 7D with 3 or 4 minutes left on the clock so I ran into the media center to get the spare one. Other than that same old settings all around. I will take my f/1.4 30mm to the next game and see if I have time to play with it.
